When I was first flying my Tristan (I was probably in the same spot you are now), I threw a Nosteratu in the last high slot. It wasn't *incredibly* useful (I was hunting NPCs, and if I'm not mistaken, unlike human players, you cannot drain cap from any one of them indefinitely), however I found it was good practice for combat in general.
